A total knock out
Knock Out, aka KO, is the original flatte matte nail polish line created by renowned makeup artist Mike Potter.
Best known for creating the iconic hair and makeup looks for “Hedwig & the Angry Inch,” Potter has taken his artistry through the film, fashion, and music industries for nearly two decades and continues to express his vision and love of color through Knock Out Cosmetics.
Potter’s fascination with matte dates back to his high school years, when he would paint his nails with black Sharpies and Wite-Out. With no suitable lacquer available on the market, Potter finally decided to create his own in 2008, and thus Knock Out—and the first truly matte nail polish line—was born.
Alongside co-founder Aaron McCann, Potter launched the line with the trend-setting Flatte Black . . . on Black Friday. Considered an iconic product in the beauty industry, the shade remains the brand’s bestseller.
The polishes, as well as their names, are inspired by industrial materials, nature, art, Potter’s travels, and his childhood; from the oxidized copper of the Statue Liberty or the color of a park bench to concrete or calamine lotion.
Worthy of display on a vanity the custom-designed frosted glass bottles are unique and beautiful, featuring a tall, sleek metal cap. Called “the Chrysler Building of nail polish bottles,” each is an Art Deco-inspired treasure too special to store in a medicine cabinet.
The collection of polishes has evolved to include fourteen matte colors, as well as a clear “Flatte Top” matte top and base coat and “Glass Top” super shine top coat.
All Knock Out products are cruelty free, made in the USA and contain no Formaldehyde, DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde Resin, or Camphor, making them Five Free.
